During the normal course of surveying boats we are constantly shocked by how few people are aware or even heard about the Kidde fire extinguisher recall ? 

Kidde announced November 2017 a recall to replace certain Kidde fire extinguishers 37.8 million units nation wide. The replacement program was initiated because certain fire extinguishers can become clogged or require excessive force to activate, posing a risk of failure to discharge. In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard. The product recall involves two styles of Kidde disposable fire extinguishers:

There are two styles of fire extinguishers included in the recall are the Plastic handle and the Pindicator fire extinguishers. 


The plastic push button type is the
Pindicator type

Non – Affected 

Fire Extinguishers have metal handle and pull pin in any style. 

Non-Affected 

Extinguishers with plastic handles and horizontal safety pins are not affected.
